We love to share the bounty that nature provides us each year. That's how we like to approach our CSA program, as sharing our veggies with our family, friends and neighborhoods. The First Light Farm family and the communities we belong to reflect a diverse palette of tastes and diet which we like to accommodate with our CSA program by having a variety of options to choose from:
CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)
We serve multiple communities with our CSA program: Seattle and especially our neighborhood of Phinney and Greenwood, and our neighbors in Carnation/Duvall/Fall City and surrounding area. We deliver to the Seattle area*, but we encourage everyone who can to pick up at the farm!
With our CSA program, we harvest a weekly bag of seasonal veggies that we think you'll enjoy. We do our best to keep the weekly offerings balanced so you don't feel overwhelmed by one or two crops!
This program is great for folks who want to ensure they have a relationship with a local farmer, are eating seasonal and nutrient-rich fresh foods, and want to participate in helping sustain local farming.
There are several sizes and options to choose from:
Spring Offering - early April-May 27 FULL
8 weeks (the number of weeks is always dependent on weather), Friday harvest/pick up day
One size bag ($30.00). Sign up separately for a spring option.
Summer/Early Fall
June 10-October 21 (20 weeks), Friday harvest/pick up day:
Not sure if a 20-week program is right for you because you have vacation or time away planned for this summer? Although we can't give refunds (since we plan our plantings based on the number of CSA customers), we invite you to consider giving your weekly bag of fresh produce to a friend. They will love it! Or we would be happy to donate your bag to the local food bank.
Please email Farmer Jane (Lister-Reis), First Light Farm co-owner if you have any questions or if you'd like to sign up! We look forward to hearing from you!
From one of our CSA members:
"I care about the food I prepare for my family, and knowing that our neighbors, Don and Jane Reis, and Warren Ichoda-Cummings, infuse the vegetables I'm bringing to the table with their love, care and reverence for the earth that nurtured those vegetables is important to me. We've been the enthusiastic recipients of First Light Farm vegetables for 4 years and can't say enough about how much we enjoy them."
