First Light Farm offers two programs for you to participate as a "farmer" and participant in our farming community: 1. First Light Farm's Mini Farm program serves individuals and families who may not have access to a patch of soil where they live, or are looking for a community of like-minded growers to participate with as they grow their own food. We have lost several CSA and farm stand customers to our Mini Farm program over the years, but the happiness and pride that comes from watching our Mini Farmers sow, maintain, and harvest their own vegetables and herbs is unmatched. So come get your hands dirty and join our community! Mini Farm Plot Sizes and Pricing:
Besides the annual lease fee, an annual membership and maintenance fee is added which allows Mimi Farmers access to the farm whenever you want, use of available farming tools and planting support, irrigation, and access to organically-grown vegetable starts. Mini Farmers must also sign a liability form as well as sign a membership rules which supports our shared values of maintaining the farm in a spirit of cooperation and friendship. How much can you grow? Is it worth the price/effort? Read here about one family's farming efforts. We think you'll be amazed what they grew in 300 sq feet! 2. First Light Farm's Cultural Garden Program - Cultural Foods. Stories, Recipes, Memories. Friends First Light Farm's Cultural Garden program was started in 2021 with our first garden being an East Asian Garden planted and tended by farmer Warren Ichoda-Cummings. Because of the variety of seeds from non-western seed growers, the Ichoda Garden quickly because a place for customers to discover vegetables not normally available or seen in Seattle grocery stores. We would like to add two more cultural gardens. If you have an interest in participating in our farm's commitment to supporting cultural and human diversity, please reach out to us at 206-719-8602.
