April - September "Learning from the Earth" - An Introduction to Ethnobotany - A Series of Six Classes, 10:30-2 pm.
Taught by Renee Fredrickson ($360; $60/class)
These ethnobotany classes were so successful in 2023 that our instructor, Renee Fredrickson, has agreed to teach them again this year. Renee is an ethnobotanist and former teacher from Northwest School, where she taught a year-long Ethnobotany program for seniors. Class Dates: April 27, May 18, June 22, July 27, August 17, September 7th. Participants are encouraged to attend all six classes if possible. For more information, click here. May 9th, 7-9 pm "Nature as Teacher: Growing a Healthy Community"
Taught by farm owner and educator, Jane Reis. Limited to 12 participants.
This four, online Thursday evening classes will use nature as a metaphor to help us understand our individual value (heirloom seed), our uniqueness (variety), contribution (bloom), and belonging (ecosystem).
The course cost is $200 per participant. Participants are asked to contribute what they can on the principles of a gift economy. If you can give more, then your gift will help supplement others who cannot contribute as much.
We hope that you will be able to contribute between $50 and $250. However, no amount is too small or too big! We hope you can join us and help make ourselves and our communities more resilient!

May 4th Learn to Make Your Own Twined and Twill Cattail Baskets, 10-3 pm, $100
Taught by Reisha Beck, Wayside Botanicals - Limited to 12 Participants
In this hands-on workshop participants will learn the basics of twined cattail basketry. and cordage making We will also cover how and when to harvest cattails, how to dry, store and processes for weaving. Reisha will also display and demonstrate other types of materials used in twined basketry and cover the Ethnobotanical traditions of cattail baskets. Students will go home with a finished basket! June 8th Learn to Make Your Own Willowbark Pouches, 10-2 pm, $100
Taught by Reisha Beck, Wayside Botanicals - Limited to 12 Participants
Join Reisha for a day of basket weaving! In this hands-on workshop participants will learn the basics of folded willow bark basketry, as well as cordage making. We will also cover how and when to harvest willow bark, how to dry, store and process for weaving. Reisha will also display and demonstrate other types of barks used in basketry.
